The A to Z dictionary of Shaiya terms and their meanings

One thing I found frustrating when first playing Shaiya was the amount of abbreviations people spoke of in chat and assuming everyone would know what all the babble was about, but I never knew my AoE from my ABCs, so I will create this as it may demystify those terms and so you will be able to hold your head up high and shout to the heavens that you know what they are talking about the next time someone requests a PvP party using AoE in D2...



* add - additional mob (when you're already fighting and new enemies run up to you)
* afk - away from keyboard
* aggro - aggression of an enemy; also: the area where an enemy becomes conscious of your presence and attacks you
* aoe - area of effect (fighting a large group of mobs altogether)
* aol - Alliance of light
* aop - aura of peace (mage/oracle buff)
* AR - Agrilla Ruin
* atk - attack
* att - attack
* auto - double click on a player to auto follow them

B

* brb - be right back
* brt - be right there
* btw - by the way

C

* CL - Cloron's Lair
* CR - Cornwell Ruins

D

* D1 - D-water dungeon 1 (pvp 1-60)
* D2 - D-water dungeon 2 (pvp 1-60)
* def - defender; also: defense
* dinos - 3rd borderland, accessible by whichever side holds the Medius Relic in pvp 1-60
* dmg - damage
* DoT - damage over time, e.g. when a monster gets poisoned

E

* E-cave - Elemental cave, light side dungeon or
* EC - Elemental cave, light side dungeon
* EM - Easy Mode character
* ep - experience points
* exp - experience points
* Elemental Lapis- A special type of lapis that adds an element to the player i.e: Wind, Earth, Fire etc.

F

* FL - Fantasma's Lair
* FTW - for the win

G

* g2g - got to go
* gl&hf - good luck and have fun
* gm - Game Master (Higher in powers than a GS and able to take some actions for/against players)
* grb - guild ranking battle
* grind - constantly killing to level
* gs - Game Sages
* gtg - got to go
* gratz - congratulations
* GvG- Guild versus Guild
* gtfo - get the **** out

H

* HM - Hard Mode character
* hp - health points

I

* inc - incoming mob, or in pvp, someone of the opposing faction

K

* k - 1,000 gold
* KH - Kalamus's House (dungeon)
* kite - a tactic of running circles, usually to increase distance for extra damage(archer) or less cast interruptions(mage).
* kite tank - a player who uses a tactic of running circles after using a skill to gain aggression in order to tank strong monsters
* kk - okay; sometimes: a million
* ks - Kill stealer

L

* lf - looking for
* lfg - looking for group; sometimes: looking for guild
* lfp - looking for party; sometimes: looking for players (when in a party)
* lmao - laughing my **** off
* lol - laughing out loud
* lvl - level
* Lapis- A special type of gem that adds to a certain stat (sometimes Lapis can add to two stats called a Dual lapis, Also there are Elemental and Sonic Lapis, See E and S Sections for more details)

M

* m - 1,000,000 gold
* mil - same as m
* mob - a group of enemies/monsters, sometimes also short for mobile object
* mp - mana points

N

* Newbie - New Player (not rude).
* Noob - New Player, derogatory.
* NM - Normal Mode character
* NPC - non-player character
* np - no problem
* nos - Nostrum - Various types of enhancements bought through the item mall or other players.
* nosser - A player using nostrums.

O

* omg - oh my God/gosh
* omw - on my way
* ooc - out of character (used for role-playing)
* oom - out of mana
* oop - out of party, used when a group is being helped by someone outside of their party.
* oos - out of stamina
* OP - original poster (forum related)

P

* pk - player killing, used for battles.
* plf - party looking for
* pull - standing near an enemy, just so far away that it notices you and runs towards you, effectively being lured away from a pack of other monsters
* PvE - player versus environment (same as PvM)
* PvM - player versus monsters (same as PvE)
* PvP - player versus player

R

* re - back; return
* rofl - rolling on the floor laughing
* RvR - realm versus realm (includes PvP)

S

* sp - stamina points
* stfu - shut the **** up

T

* tank - defender (light side)/guardian (dark side)
* ty - thank you
* tyvm - thank you very much

U

* UoF - Union of Fury
* UM - Ultimate Mode character

W

* wb - welcome back
* wc - wrong chat
* wtb - want to buy
* wtf - what the ****
* wth - what the hell
* wts - want to sell
* wtt - want to trade

Y

* yw - you're welcome

WTB - Want to buy

WTS - Want to sell

WTT - Want to trade

GS - Game Sage (sort of like a moderator, they have quick access to getting in touch with a GM [Game Master]
